Since its inception in the PlayStation 3 era, Uncharted has solidified itself as one of Sony's most important franchises. After captivating fans with 4 main installments and multiple spin-offs, it made the leap to the big screen with a live-action adaptation that, admittedly, was far from perfect. That said, is there going to be a sequel?
The film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg hit theaters in 2022. Despite receiving mixed reviews and not winning over hardcore fans of the saga, it was a big box office success and is already one of the highest-grossing video game adaptations in history.
After the commercial success, Tom Rothman, CEO of Sony Pictures, expressed support for turning Uncharted into a film franchise, leaving the door open for sequels. Likewise, producer Charles Roven expressed his desire to work on a second installment.

The script for Uncharted 2 is ready, confirms Mark Wahlberg
There are many possibilities that we will see Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan on the big screen again, but Sony Pictures has not yet confirmed that the project will come to fruition. In the meantime, one of its lead actors spoke about this production and gave hope to fans.
In late 2023, Mark Wahlberg, who played Victor Sullivan in the film based on the PlayStation and Naughty Dog franchise, said in an interview that the team was still working on the film and hinted that his character would appear with his characteristic mustache, as teased at the end of the first film.
Now, the actor revealed in another interview with ScreenRant that the script for the sequel is already ready, and he is excited to participate because he believes the audience enjoyed the first installment. However, it seems that the project is still in its early stages, so, if it comes to fruition, its release seems distant.
"Actually, they called me today to let me know that they had the script. I can't let my beard and mustache grow, but they told me, 'start growing your mustache. It will take some time.' I would be interested in seeing what the story is and where that adventure takes us. But I'm excited. I know the audience really loved the first one, so we'll see," commented the Hollywood celebrity.
Even with the script ready, it is not a certainty that Uncharted 2 will see the light of day. We'll have to wait to learn more details about this production.
Recently, PlayStation Productions saw success with the first Gran Turismo film and the successful live-action The Last of Us series. We already know that productions based on God of War and Horizon are in the works.
But tell us, would you like to see Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan star in a new film? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
