Rocksteady's video game starts losing momentum less than a month after its release

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League made players scratch their heads. While many expected a single-player experience in the style of the Batman: Arkham trilogy, the end result was an online game that, while fun at times, did not align with the community's expectations. This disappointment is reflected in the statistics.

The title from Rocksteady excited the community with its original announcement, but the presence of elements typical of service games disappointed many. With that controversy over its head, it was clear that it would struggle to win over players' hearts and maintain a strong user base.

The game starring Captain Boomerang, King Shark, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn debuted with a record of 13,459 simultaneous players on Steam, a figure far below the historical peak of Marvel’s Avengers. This weak start painted an unfavorable but not fatalistic picture.

However, fans discovered that Batman: Arkham Knight, a 2015 title that concluded the story of the Dark Knight, has more concurrent users than Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The bad news continues for Rocksteady's latest project.

The beginning of the end? Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League struggles on Steam

According to SteamDB data, the player count for the online title dropped below 1000 simultaneous players to a minimum of 916 concurrent users on February 15 and 16. While it's normal for people to stop playing over time, it's alarming that, in just 2 weeks, it lost around 85% of its user base.

However, at this moment, there are 1587 people connected, and the game has positive reviews on Steam, indicating that there are players interested in this new experience. Additionally, it is unknown how many people are playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Overall, the player count for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is likely to increase when the first season of additional content is released, introducing Joker as a new playable character. Meanwhile, developers are working to address login issues and other connection problems.

But tell us, do you think this title has a future? Do you think it can make a comeback? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
