It was earlier this week when Nintendo presented its latest financial results, and some excerpts from what Shuntaro Furukawa, the company's president, shared with investors continue to emerge. On this occasion, he revealed that the generational transition of platforms will not be easy.
As you probably know, rumors about Nintendo's new console are growing louder, which would arrive at the end of this 2024 to take the place that Nintendo Switch has held for 7 years.

Here's what the president of Nintendo said:
"We approach our business every day with a deep sense of urgency. The generational transition of video game consoles is never easy. We have faced significant challenges after successful platforms several times, so we never consider our current situation to be entirely secure," said Furukawa.
Additionally, the Japanese executive mentioned that one of the factors making the transition difficult is the enormous competition in the industry and revealed what is needed to maintain success:
"Our business is always exposed to great competition. From a broader entertainment perspective, not only video games but also various forms of entertainment are competitors in this industry. In this environment, there is an increasingly urgent need, more than ever, to continue offering unique proposals to become a brand that customers choose."
As you could see, it seems that Shuntaro Furukawa is very focused on preventing a repeat of what happened a few years ago when the tremendous success of Wii was followed by a decline with Wii U. Therefore, Nintendo is likely already planning how to ensure that the successor to the Switch avoids the mistakes made before.
