The title by Pocketpair has a large modding community

Palworld, the Pokémon with weapons, caught attention since its announcement in 2021, but few foresaw that it would have one of the most successful launches in recent history. Thanks to its immense popularity, it managed to build a massive modding community. And yes, the first projects by fans grabbed the attention of both fans and outsiders.

It's no secret that the game by Pocketpair has been at the center of multiple controversies since its early access release, with accusations of plagiarizing Pokémon designs. One fan seized the controversy to create a mod inspired by the pocket monsters franchise, although it received a complaint from Nintendo.

Soon after, Nexus Mods, one of the most popular modding platforms, announced that it would ban modifications based on Pokémon as a preventive measure. This led to projects inspired by another popular franchise that tells the story of evolving monsters and creatures: Digimon.

Palworld receives Digimon content created by fans

As expected, the iconic Digimon monsters arrived in Palworld thanks to the community's efforts. Specifically, modders SV BOY and FrancisLouis took on the task of bringing the creatures from the anime to the survival video game developed by Pocketpair.

SV BOY created mods inspired by Gabumon, Omegamon, and Tyrannomon, while FrancisLouis introduced Garurumon to the game. As indicated by Siliconera, these modifications replace the Pals with Digimon creatures, and the change is purely aesthetic. Therefore, players should not expect the characters to have the same abilities as in the animated show.

Omegamon replaces Bushi, Garurumon takes the place of Eikthyrdeer, Gabumon replaces Leezpunk, and Relaxaurus becomes Tyrannomon. Players can find installation and download instructions on Nexus Mods.

After the unprecedented success of Palworld, The Pokémon Company issued a statement where it confirmed an investigation into the Pocketpair title and potential legal actions. It's clear that comparisons between the two franchises will never end.

This week, a popular YouTuber created another Pokémon-based mod and shared it with the public. He claims that the project does not infringe on copyright, so he hopes not to receive a complaint from the intellectual property owners.

But tell us, what do you think of these mods? Do you plan to download any? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
