The 31-year-old man claims that modern games "suck"

The passage of time is constant, and growing up is inevitable. While many of us still enjoy video games, some have put aside this hobby or simply don't find it as enjoyable as before. A family man was in that situation, but the viral game of 2024 made him rediscover his love for gaming.

Palworld surprised the gaming community and became one of the most successful releases in recent history. In addition to surpassing 2,000,000 simultaneous players on Steam, it has already sold 8 million copies since its early access release.

Despite the controversies that arose in the last week, it is undeniable that Pocketpair's title is liked by the vast majority of fans. Thus, a 31-year-old man regained his love for this form of entertainment thanks to the game inspired by Pokémon and ARK.

"Modern games suck," says a family man who praised Palworld

Through a post on Reddit, a family man shared his story and went viral. Specifically, he stated that he has a few days a week to play and has been unable to connect with modern AAA titles, even though most of them have positive reviews. Thus, Palworld made him feel like a child playing with his Game Boy at Christmas, a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time.

"I'm 31 years old and a father of 3 kids. I work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and maybe I have 2 or 3 nights a week to play for a few hours each session. It has been impossible for me to immerse myself in modern AAA titles, even though most have positive reviews," said user Different-Ad-3814.

The fan praised the developers for finding "the essence that seemed lost in modern games." In the title of his post, he claims that he never stopped enjoying video games and that "modern games simply suck."

Different-Ad-3814's story resonated with the community and gathered over 6700 positive votes in one day. In the comments section, users agreed with his statements and shared their own stories.

"Most games feel like a job. Log in daily for rewards, complete tasks to get battle pass skins, complete this challenge to earn a sticker for your weapon, and so on. Palworld seems to have been made for people to play and enjoy," said a Reddit user.

"I get it. I'm over 40, work 40 hours a week, and have kids. There just isn't time for most games. I managed to dedicate a couple of hours to this game here and there," said another.

Interestingly, it's not the first time we've heard of a player rediscovering their love for video games after a major release. Last year, we shared the story of a father who regained his passion for gaming after playing Starfield.
