Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is one of the best independent games in history, as Ninja Theory demonstrated that there was more beyond Metroidvania and retro style. Its proposal stood out for its production values that, at the time, were on par with the big AAA titles. Today, the studio is no longer independent, having been acquired by Microsoft, but that hasn't changed its perspective, and that's the key to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, a game that, it seems, will not overindulge.
How long will Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II last?
Today, during the Developer_Direct, Ninja Theory announced the release date of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, which will debut on May 21. After the presentation concluded, the studio revealed important information, including its duration. Regarding this, Don Matthews, the head of Ninja Theory, anticipated that Hellblade II will have a similar duration to the first game, meaning it will offer a gameplay experience of just over 8 hours, perhaps 9 hours for those seeking 100% completion and achievements.

Ninja Theory avoided excess, and Hellblade II is a game with an indie essence
While one might think that Ninja Theory would lean towards the excesses of AAA in terms of budget and production values, the reality is that the studio decided to stick to the path they know: creating with an indie spirit without giving in to temptations or expanding where it's not necessary.
In this regard, Ninja Theory makes it clear that Hellblade II is a game made for those who enjoyed the first installment: "Our approach is the same. Although we are no longer an independent studio, our creative spirit has been emboldened by our inclusion in Xbox Game Studios, and in this new chapter of Senua's life, we have been able to take our production values much further than we could achieve before. Therefore, my message to players is that if you loved Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, or if you enjoy cinematic immersive narrative experiences, we are building Senua's Saga: Hellblade II for you."
