"I won't buy it", fans slam digital-only release for Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

Gamers are upset about the lack of distribution in physical format

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II finally has a release date, but there is a detail that worries gamers: the Ninja Theory title will only debut in digital format. The news disappointed many collecting enthusiasts and lovers of physical copies, who stated that they will not buy the title for that reason.

Digital-only release of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II generates controversy

Much of the community agrees that a release as important for Xbox as Senua's Saga: Hellblade II should have physical copies and a collector's edition. Several gamers recalled the case of Alan Wake II, which was also only distributed digitally.

Several people stated that they did not acquire or enjoy the Remedy Entertainment game because it lacked physical copies. For this reason, they regret that Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is going through the same situation despite debuting with a reduced price.

"Avid collector of physical media, sad another game I won’t pick up on day 1, just like Alan Wake 2," said one gamer who was looking forward to the sequel.

For many, the big problem is that another high-caliber title is joining the trend of having a digital-only release. As expected, there are already several calls for Xbox and Microsoft to do something about it and release physical copies in the future.

Other people believe that the game should simply have a disc release because of its importance and all the hype it has generated over the years. For some, this decision makes sense due to the popularity of Xbox Series S and Xbox Game Pass, the service from which the title will be offered at no additional cost.

The community recalled that the first installment of the saga also had a digital-only release and later had a physical release. So many expect something similar to happen for the sequel, but for now nothing is confirmed.
