Gradually,Konami is picking up the pace in its video game division, and the first step has been to appeal to its past with some collections that include timeless classics. Something is better than nothing, and when it comes to nostalgia, the potential is high. This time, the Japanese company surprised with the announcement of 2 collections featuring platformers from the NES, SNES, and SEGA Genesis era.

Konami announces collections of Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight Adventures

Konami announced the release of 2 collections of titles from yesteryear, made possible through collaboration with Limited Run Games. The first is a bundle that includes the 2 titles of The Felix the Cat that debuted on Game Boy in 1992 and on NES in 1993, considered among the best of the time for their level design and gameplay proposal.

Additionally, the Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked collection will be released, including the action and platform game Rocket Knight Adventures, released on SEGA Genesis in 1993; Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, a sequel that debuted on SEGA Genesis in 1994, and Sparkster, another sequel with different design and proposals that premiered on SNES in 1994.

According to Konami, these collections will be available on PS4, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, although the release date has not been revealed, and it's unclear if they will be available on Xbox.

The current strategy of the Japanese company is to bring back its franchises with collections, remasterings, and even remakes. In this regard, there are already compilations of Contra and Castlevania, as well as a first collection of Metal Gear, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and the remake of Silent Hill 2. In the case of the horror franchise, it appears to be the only one with new releases currently in development.
