Nintendo Switch 2: An Analyst Reveals the Possible Price of the New Console

It seems that the platform will maintain portable options

The year 2024 has arrived, and the gaming community is eagerly awaiting news about Nintendo Switch 2, the console that could be released this year. However, its creators have yet to share details, and rumors are abound. This time, an analyst shared important data, including the price and what the hardware could offer.

As you may recall, Nintendo Switch has been on the market for almost 7 years, and it is believed that it has completed its cycle, leading to increasing speculation about what its successor might include.

Now, Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of the Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games, shared a forecast for this year in the annual analyst predictions section of GamesIndustry.biz.

According to Toto, the successor to Nintendo Switch will be released this year and will likely be more expensive than the hybrid was at its launch.

Nintendo has yet to share details about its upcoming system, but the analyst wanted to go beyond the release window and stated that the company's next console could be launched at $400 USD (approximately $6,800 MXN), $100 USD more than the launch price of the Switch in 2017.

If that's not enough, Toto mentioned something similar to what was shared by the leaker Zippo a few weeks ago: Nintendo Switch 2 games will cost $70 USD (approximately $1,190 MXN), the same as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The Next Console Will Be Similar to Nintendo Switch

Finally, the industry consultant also believes that Nintendo's next console will once again have portable functionality, making it an iteration of the current hardware design rather than a "revolution" of the hybrid's proposal. He even mentioned a specific franchise that needs a system with this characteristic:

"The next system is likely to be more of an iteration than a revolution. Nintendo may add some features to the device, but it will be similar to the current Switch. And because there is Pokémon, and Pokémon is associated with portable gaming, there's no way Nintendo will abandon the portability feature for its next big plan," said Toto.

We will remain attentive to share any official information revealed about Nintendo Switch 2. In the meantime, we invite you to check out other news related to the mysterious system at this link.
