Since the release of its first installment, God of War has solidified itself as one of PlayStation's most important franchises. While it is currently experiencing a new golden age thanks to the change in focus that began with the 2018 title, there are those who miss the philosophy of the old games. It seems that these fans may soon be able to revisit the classic adventures of Kratos.
The Original God of War Trilogy Could Receive a Remastered Collection
During the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, host Nick Baker heightened the excitement for fans who enjoy the early entries in the Santa Monica Studio saga. Specifically, he mentioned that, according to a source, the original trilogy could return with a remastered collection.
Nick Baker admits that he is one of the people who laments the new direction the intellectual property has taken since the release of the 2018 title, so he is very excited about the idea of playing the first titles again.
"When I heard that this could happen, I told a friend of mine who also loves the original God of War games, and he got really excited. And I heard that a remaster of the classic God of War trilogy on PlayStation is possible," the insider commented.

However, Nick Baker is unsure whether the project will be announced and released in 2024, or if the release will not come until 2025. Similarly, he does not know if God of War: Ascension, the prequel that debuted in 2013, will also be included in the package. We must remember that a collection including the first main entries of Kratos' adventures debuted on PS3.
"The other thing that I'm not clear about and that I want to get details on is: Will it be a direct adaptation of what we have for PS3? In which case, I'm a little less excited. Or is it something more complicated and falls into the realm of remake?" the leaker commented on the show.
The first title was released in 2005 for PlayStation 2, so the franchise starring Kratos will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. The sequel debuted in 2007, and the 3rd installment hit stores in 2010. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to think that Santa Monica Studio and Sony may opt for a remastered collection to celebrate the legacy of the saga.
