Plagiarism of Suika Game is grabbing attention on the PlayStation Store

It's normal for indie titles to occasionally appear in the gaming scene that were previously unknown or unexpected but end up becoming a success. Such is the case with a fruit game for Nintendo Switch that has just arrived on the PlayStation Store... but unfortunately, it's not what fans were hoping for.

In late 2023, Suika Game, an indie title that debuted on Nintendo Switch and captivated players with its addictive puzzle proposal of associating fruits of the same type, gained popularity. Despite the simplicity of the concept, Suika Game was so well-received that players outside the Nintendo system were eager for it. A version made its way to PlayStation, but it turned out to be a copy.

Is Suika Game available on PlayStation?

The appearance of The Suika Game on the PlayStation Store caught attention a few days ago, initially believed to be a port of the Nintendo Switch version because the original image seemed the same. However, it was one of those clone games that are abundant on these platforms. First, you should know that the original game is Suika Game, not The Suika Game. Additionally, despite the fruits having kawaii features in both versions, the expressions are not the same.

Another difference is that the developer responsible for the copy on the PlayStation Store is GOGAME CONSOLE PUBLISHER LTD, a company with no relation to Aladdin X, the true creator of the success on Nintendo Switch.

"We are aware that The Suika Game appeared on the PlayStation Store, but we are not affiliated with The Suika Game. So, the game has nothing to do with our Suika Game!" stated Aladdin X in a statement to Eurogamer.

The plagiarism doesn't end there; the site also discovered that the HTML code of GOGAME CONSOLE PUBLISHER LTD's website is copied from that of Guerrilla Games.

It's important to mention that, at the moment, the copy, The Suika Game, has its page on the PlayStation Store but is not available for purchase, and there is speculation about the possibility that it may not pass certification, and ultimately, PlayStation Store may not accept it.
