Despite being one of Nintendo's less successful consoles, the Nintendo 64 is a system that many fans fondly remember for the quality of its exclusives. One of the most acclaimed and memorable titles will soon be playable on the Nintendo Switch.
The game in question is none other than Jet Force Gemini, the third-person shooter in the action and platform genre that Rare released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, during its golden age.
Jet Force Gemini coming to Nintendo Switch
So far, the once-exclusive Nintendo 64 title can only be played (legitimately) on the original hardware and in the compilation Rare Replay, which debuted in 2015 for the Xbox One (so it's also possible to play it on Xbox Series X|S[ thanks to backward compatibility).
However, the title will soon be available on another platform since Nintendo has just announced that it will be added to the virtual game catalog of Nintendo 64 on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on November 30th in Japan, so console users can play it at no additional cost if they have an active subscription. The title will also be available in the West, but not until December on an unconfirmed day.
While the original title was a Nintendo 64 exclusive, the franchise has always belonged to Rare (responsible for both development and publication), and currently, Microsoft owns the IP. Unfortunately, there are no plans known to work on a new game.
