Xbox Executive Updates Release Window for Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

The company aims to release 4 "major games" per year

One of the exclusives developed by Microsoft Studios that is generating high expectations is Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. The title from Ninja Theory has been in development for years, but it still lacks a release date beyond the broad timeframe of 2024. However, an Xbox executive seems to have confirmed the season of the year to expect Senua's new adventure.

Up to now, neither Xbox nor Ninja Theory has specified the day or month of the release of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. Still, official hints from the studio indicate that the development is progressing smoothly, and there should be no delays.

When will Senua's Saga: Hellblade II be released?

A new clue reinforces this, coming from Xbox's Head of Content and Game Studios, Matt Booty. In a recent episode of the podcast The Fourth Curtain, the executive took the opportunity to discuss Xbox game release dates and hinted at when Ninja Theory's next project should be released.

Booty mentioned that Xbox's goal is to release around 4 big or AAA games per year, citing Starfield and Forza Motorsport as examples. Interestingly, he continued with examples of titles that still do not have release dates, namely Ara: History Untold and Towerborne.

"We have the goal of putting out 1 big game — you know, a new release, a big game, something significant — 4 times a year. So every 3 months, we're putting something new out. I think with Starfield and then Forza Motorsport, and then we go into the next year, 2024, we show the game Ara: [History Untold] and the game Towerborne at gamescom [2023], and we have Hellblade II, which comes out after. We feel like we've got that cadence," the executive expressed.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II would arrive in the second half of 2024

These last titles still do not have release dates, but considering the release cadence that Xbox is aiming for, Ara: History Untold would debut in early January 2024, Towerborne three months later, and another three months later, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II should be released. Therefore, its release is approximately scheduled for the second half of the year.

Having said that, it is possible that Ninja Theory's exclusive might appear at The Game Awards 2023, and in the best-case scenario, announce its release date. We will keep you informed.
