It seems that PlayStation will not close the year in the best way, as it has just lost an important creative. We are referring to Harry Krueger, who worked at Housemarque for 14 years and is recognized for being the director of Returnal.

As you know, Sony acquired Housemarque in 2021, so the team is part of PlayStation Studios. Through a statement, Housemarque announced the departure of Krueger, who took the opportunity to thank Sony, PlayStation and his colleagues.

Director of Returnal leaves Housemarque

"During my 14 years at Housemarque, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work on one dream project after another, and had the privilege of working alongside some truly talented and wonderful people along the way. It's been an honor to accompany Housemarque on this journey, witnessing our growth from our smaller arcade-inspired titles to the magnificent heights we reached with Returnal," Krueger stated.

The developer worked on the studio's most important projects and witnessed Housemarque's transition from an independent studio to one of the PlayStation Studios teams. He added that leaving the company has been a difficult decision to make, but believes Housemarque is in very good hands and will create amazing games in the future.

"I’m leaving the company with nothing but deep gratitude for the past, and a glowing optimism for the future - with an exciting new project in the works, a fantastic team that’s stronger than ever, and the continuous support of Sony and Playstation Studios, I know that Housemarque’s brightest chapter has yet to be written added the developer," added the developer.

Ilari Kuittinen, CEO and co-founder of Housemarque highlighted the talent, hard work and leadership that Krueger demonstrated in his 14-year career. Finally, he emphasized that the studio is already developing a new title that is still a mystery.

For his part, Krueger did not reveal details about his future, so it is unclear whether he will join another company in the future or take an indefinite break from the industry.
