Xbox announced this morning an alliance that divided the opinion of gamers. It's an agreement to work with Inworld AI, a company that will help develop tools powered by artificial intelligence. The goal is for Xbox and its studios to use them to create their next games.
According to details, Xbox and Inworld AI will offer an AI-powered design system, allowing developers to create scripts, missions, dialogue trees, characters and more elements of a video game.
Creatives will be able to use such a system optionally, so each team will decide how much they want to use it for their games. The project will take advantage of Microsoft technologies such as Azure and all its experience in research. The idea is to streamline some development processes and experiment with interaction levels that would allow, for example, AI-powered NPCs that respond dynamically to the player.
"At Xbox, we believe that with better tools, creators can create even more extraordinary games," said Haiyan Zhang, general manager of gaming AI at Xbox, explaining.
Gamers doubt Xbox's AI strategy
The news immediately caught the attention of gamers, as the use of artificial intelligence in certain sectors, such as creative, still raises many doubts. There are Xbox fans who believe that it is not the right path for the industry and fear that the brand's upcoming games will lack authenticity.
In addition, there were also complaints about what its use implies for the video game industry, which this year suffered from significant waves of layoffs. Many fear that Xbox and Microsoft will start replacing their developers with AI.
Of course, there are also excited gamers, as the project opens the doors to many possibilities that are undoubtedly interesting. Despite this, there is uncertainty and doubts from a large sector of the community, especially because of the controversies we have had in recent months regarding the use of AI.
