With high-profile franchises like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, FromSoftware has established itself as one of the most significant game development studios today. In recent years, they hit the mark with two critically acclaimed games: ELDEN RING in 2022 and ARMORED CORE VI in 2023. What will be their next major step?
We'll have to be patient, but a new clue suggests that the Japanese company already has multiple projects in the works.
According to information seen by IGN Japan, FromSoftware is currently recruiting new employees in various departments. There are openings for positions ranging from game planning and character designer to public relations staff and quality control department manager.
As is often the case, the job posting information is limited and reveals few details; however, this recruitment strategy is aimed at bringing new personnel on board to work on "various new projects."
What is FromSoftware's next project?
We must remember that the studio's latest games are ELDEN RING and ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON.
The open-world dark fantasy game debuted in early 2022 and quickly became a commercial and critical success. After selling more than 20 million copies, the company announced that they are already working on an expansion: Shadow of the Erdtree, which currently lacks an official release date.
On the other hand, the mecha action game hit the shelves in mid-2023, and its success met the ambitious expectations of Bandai Namco. At its launch, it triumphed on Steam and broke the record set by Dark Souls and Sekiro. Additionally, it was the second best-selling release in the United States in August.
Unfortunately, the next FromSoftware project is unknown. After the success of ELDEN RING and ARMORED CORE VI, fans are hoping for a new installment of Dark Souls or Bloodborne.
