Moments ago, Elon Musk's official X | Twitter account shared the announcement marking the start of the "Not a Bot" pilot program, which will be implemented in New Zealand and the Philippines starting today. The program introduces a $1 USD charge for accessing the basic functions of Twitter | X. According to the official social network site, the goal is to enhance the user experience, combat bots and spam, and improve accessibility: "This new test was developed to reinforce our already significant efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform, and bot activity. This will assess a potentially powerful measure to help us combat bots and spammers on X, while balancing platform accessibility with the small fee."

According to information provided on the official Twitter | X site, the "Not a Bot" program applies to all new accounts created on the social network from today, October 17, 2023. Therefore, retroactivity is not anticipated at the moment, but it cannot be guaranteed to remain so.
When creating an account on Twitter | X, the user will have the option to choose the annual payment of $1 USD, or $18 MXN according to the current exchange rate.
