With the PlayStation 3, Sony introduced its trophy system, a feature popularized by Microsoft with the Xbox 360. Since then, this characteristic has been present on all consoles, and even Steam and Epic Games Store have implemented their own versions. If you are interested in trophies and play on PC, we have good news for you, as PlayStation trophies could be coming to this platform.
PlayStation has released several titles on PC through Steam and Epic Games. While it is possible to unlock achievements in these titles, they are not precisely PlayStation trophies, and there is no way to register their unlocking on Sony systems. However, Sony may be working to change this soon.
Will PlayStation games on PC have trophies?
We say the above because a list of PlayStation 5 trophies has just been found on the PlayStation Network servers that is different from the others, as it has attached to it the "Trophy Set" list for the "PSPC" platform.
According to analysts from TrueTrophies, responsible for the discovery, PSPC would be a platform separate from PlayStation 5 but could connect to it. It is believed to be an experiment by Sony to implement some kind of compatibility in its PC games so that they work with those on PlayStation 5.
Most likely, the company wants to make it so that when a PC player unlocks an achievement on Steam or Epic Games Store, it registers in the user's trophy list and can be seen in their overall list on consoles, just like those obtained on other Sony platforms such as PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, etc.
It is worth noting that neither Sony nor PlayStation have revealed plans regarding this, so we invite you to consider it as inconclusive evidence that PlayStation trophies could be implemented in the company's PC games. We will keep you informed.
