Moments ago, Nintendo officially announced that actor Kevin Afghani is the new voice of Mario, and his debut will be in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a title set to release on October 20 on Switch. This means that all the sounds Mario makes will have been the work of Afghani, thus marking the beginning of his era as the voice of the character in video games, as it is known that in movies or other media, the role may be in the hands of other actors, as was the case in the film with Chris Pratt.
Once Nintendo announced Kevin Afghani as the new voice of Mario, the actor confirmed the news on his Twitter account | X, where he revealed that he also took on the voice of Luigi: "Incredibly proud to have lent my voice to Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Thanks to Nintendo for inviting me to the Flower Kingdom!"

According to information on IMDb, Kevin Afghani has a recent history in the world of anime, animation, and video games. It starts with his role as the voice actor for Raditz in Dragon Ball R & R. Then there's his role as Arnold, in the English dub, in the successful video game Genshin Impact. He also voiced Spike in Anime Penguin: Red Snow and played various roles, including Cuphead, in gaming-themed animated shorts Mashed.
Along with these performances, Kevin Afghani can now add being the official actor voicing Mario in the world of video games.
