Sony could be at potential risk, as this morning Ransomed.vc, a known hacker group, claimed to have successfully breached all of the company's systems. The attackers said they will sell the stolen data to the highest bidder in the coming days.
Although Sony has not confirmed the attack or the theft of information, several sources claim that Ransomed.vc has published certain data to prove that they did indeed perpetrate the attack and that they have privileged information about the company.
Is PlayStation in danger after alleged Sony hacking?
According to Cyber Security Connect, Sony suffered a ransomware attack and those responsible will sell the stolen information. This because, allegedly, the company does not want to pay to recover its information.
"We have successfully compromissed [sic] all of sony systems. We won’t ransom them! We will sell the data. Due to Sony not wanting to pay. DATA IS FOR SALE," the group of attackers stated.
For now it is known that Ransomed.vc posted screenshots of an internal Sony login page to prove that they indeed did the attack. They also leaked a PowerPoint presentation and thousands of other files.
Despite this, it is important to clarify that it is not known for sure if the attack was effective and compromised really important information. On the other hand, Sony has not commented on the matter, so it is also unclear whether divisions such as PlayStation are at risk.
It is believed that the attackers, mostly from Ukraine and Russia, will release the information if they cannot sell it.
