Last week, it was confirmed that Donald Mustard, one of Epic Games' most important creatives, left the company. With this departure, the company had a significant vacancy that they didn't take long to fill. This is because the company has already found its new creative director, and it's a creative who left an incredible mark on God of War.
It was through social media that Charlie Wen announced he has just become the new creative director of Epic Games. With this, he will assume the position left by Donald Mustard and will be the primary person responsible for the company's creative vision and projects like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League.
"I'm excited to share that I've just embarked on a new adventure as the creative director of Epic Games.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has been with me up to this point. The journey ahead promises to be truly epic!" Wen commented.
Who is Charlie Wen?
You may not recognize the name Charlie Wen, and that's okay. After all, he's not one of the most recognized creatives in the industry. However, he is a person who has been incredibly important in very significant franchises.
It turns out that Charlie Wen is one of the co-creators of Kratos, the protagonist of God of War. In fact, he was responsible for sketching the first concept of the Ghost of Sparta on a napkin back in 2003.
In addition to working on God of War, Charlie Wen also worked on League of Legends, the famous MOBA from Riot Games. He was also the visual development supervisor for MCU films such as Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers. He also contributed to other films like Iron Man 3, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant-Man.
