The voice actor will stop portraying the plumber and take on a new role

Last month, Nintendo confirmed that Charles Martinet would no longer be voicing Mario Bros. after more than 20 years of lending his voice to the plumber. However, he won't be out of work and will have a new role as a Mario ambassador, but what on earth is that? Not even Charles Martinet knows.

Recently, Charles Martinet spoke on a panel at Galaxy Con Austin 2023. As you can imagine, it was inevitable that the topic of the voice change for Mario would come up, and someone asked him about this decision. Unfortunately, his response left everyone with more questions than answers.

According to Martinet, his new responsibility will be to be a "Mario ambassador," but sadly, he has no idea what his responsibilities will entail. However, he made it clear that he is not retiring, so he will continue to work on different projects.

"Maybe you saw the news. I'm a Mario ambassador. I still don't know what that means. I haven't retired, but I'm an ambassador, and as we move into the future, I'll learn exactly what that is," said the voice actor.

Remember that, so far, Nintendo has not revealed who will voice characters like Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi after Martinet's departure. That said, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be the first title in which the plumber will have his new voice[/url], and we will have to wait for the credits to find out who it is.

What do you think of this news? Do you think Charles Martinet will be a good ambassador for Mario? Let us know in the comments.
