One of the great mysteries about Starfield is related to how it will perform on consoles. Fortunately, there are already several analyses about it that reveal how Bethesda's ambitious RPG runs on Xbox Series X|S.
Fortunately, there is good news for users of both systems, since Digital Foundry concluded that the title has a stable performance most of the time. Despite this, there are some exceptions to take into account.
Starfield performs solidly on Xbox most of the time
According to Digital Foundry's analysis, there are no issues with Starfield's performance on Xbox Series X. Surprisingly, there's also no reason to worry about the Xbox Series S version. So, it looks like Bethesda did one of their best optimization jobs yet.
The media outlet claims that the title runs at a solid 30 fps on both consoles for most of the time. Of course, at times the frame rate drops a bit, but not to levels that affect the exploration experience or combat.
As for resolution, Xbox Series X runs the game at 1440p, while Xbox Series S runs the game at 900p. The analysis states that the graphical differences between the two versions are minor and that only elements such as the level of detail of the world, the drawing distance and reflections vary.
However, not everything is perfect, as the title's performance suffers a bit in specific situations. Specifically when visiting the largest cities in the game, namely New Atlantis and Akila. Despite this, the review clarifies that the problems are minor and do not affect the experience too much.
