Without a doubt, the independent scene has kept the horror genre alive for a long time. In recent years, we've seen experiences that presented interesting ideas that captivated and frightened thousands of players. One of these is Phasmophobia, a cooperative horror game that, unfortunately, will take longer to arrive on consoles.
The video game from Kinetic Games debuted in 2020 as an early access title on PC. Since then, it found its place in the community and became a viral sensation on streaming platforms. To gauge its success, we must remember that it holds a record of 112,241 simultaneous players on Steam; at the time of writing these lines, there are 44,372 users connected.
This horror proposal will reach a new audience with its console release, which was originally planned for August. Unfortunately, an incident led to its developers making the difficult decision to delay the launch of the ports for Microsoft and Sony platforms.
Phasmophobia Takes Longer to Arrive on Xbox and PlayStation
Through a statement, Kinetic Games confirmed that there was a fire in their offices, which affected the production cycle. As a result, the versions for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PS VR2 will have their release date moved, and they will now debut in October.
"First of all, we would like to thank everyone for their support and excitement about the console release. Due to a recent fire in our office building and unforeseen development issues, our ability to test and develop was significantly affected," reads the first part of the message.
Next, the development studio confirmed that they made the difficult decision to delay the console ports' release. The launch is now scheduled for the week leading up to Halloween in October.
"This will give us the time we need to polish and fine-tune everything. Your patience and understanding mean everything to us, and we can't wait to bring Phasmophobia to consoles," concludes the statement.
But tell us, what do you think of this unfortunate situation?
