For better or worse, prank videos are very popular and one of the easiest ways to gain followers on the internet. Although many of these antics are harmless on the surface, they can sometimes have serious consequences. As evidence of this, we have the case of a YouTuber who indirectly led to the firing of an employee at a video game store.

We're talking about Seth Meiring, a content creator with over 80,000 subscribers on YouTube and more than 800,000 followers on TikTok. One of his recurring pranks involves going to stores and engaging in all sorts of innocent mischief: from paying with fake money to wearing a shirt with the cashier's picture on it.

On a couple of occasions, the influencer visited GameStop stores with the purpose of returning fake games that had the cashiers' pictures on the cover. Recently, he pulled a similar prank, but it had an unfortunate outcome.

Specifically, Seth Meiring visited a GameStop store and attempted to return another fake game: Cousin Kisser: The Game. While he was in the store, a woman expressed her dissatisfaction with them recording inside the establishment, sparking a small argument.

As the customer was heading towards the door, the YouTuber made fun of her. At that moment, the store's cashier laughed. Apparently, this situation led to the employee losing his job.

The cashier, known by the username dawesometk on TikTok, uploaded a video explaining that the woman disagreed with the content creator filming in the store. It seems she was upset that the worker didn't do anything to stop the prank, so she proceeded to complain to the company.

After this incident became public, Seth Meiring deleted the prank video and created a GoFundMe account to help the man. At the time of writing, he has already raised $789 USD out of a final goal of $1000 USD. While the initiative is commendable, users criticized the influencer for causing the worker to lose his job in the first place.

"You literally owe this man at least 2 months' pay," one person wrote. "$1000 USD is less than a month's rent, that's crazy," another wrote. It's unknown if dawesometk regained his job or if he has found work at another establishment.
