GTA VI was leaked by a teenager; he was arrested while hacking at Rockstar

Sources revealed more details of those involved in the studio attack

This morning more details were revealed about the hackers who attacked Rockstar Games and leaked material from Grand Theft Auto VI. It was confirmed that the studio was attacked by teenagers who were part of Lapsus$, a hacker group that made attacks on major companies in the technology sector.

Authorities identified Arion Kurtaj, 18, and another 17-year-old, whose name was not disclosed because he is a minor. It is known that they were not only involved in the attack on Rockstar, as they were also part of the infiltration of Nvidia and Uber systems. For this reason, they were charged with several crimes and will be sentenced.

GTA VI hackers were already being watched by the police

Lapsus$ had long been in the sights of the authorities for their previous attacks. In fact, it is known that Kurtaj was being watched by the police in a hotel after the attack they had perpetrated on Nvidia. The hacker was found by authorities who had already had his identity and location revealed by a rival Lapsus$ group.

New reports claim that Kurtaj was caught just as he was hacking Rockstar. He was found in a hotel room with equipment and other tools to carry out attacks.

Sources claim that Kurtaj and the other young man met online and started collaborating. The older of the two infiltrated Rockstar's systems and posted messages revealing that he was an attacker.

As of this writing, Kurtaj is in custody, while the younger 17-year-old is out on bail. Authorities are looking for other members of Lapsus$ who presumably participated in the attacks on the various companies.

Both teens were deemed unfit for trial, as they are autistic. While they did not appear in court, they will be sentenced at a later date. They are charged with attempted racketeering, fraud and at least 6 counts of computer misuse.
