Will Charles Martinet be Mario in Super Mario Wonder? Nintendo clarifies the situation

The voice actor announced he will no longer voice the plumber

For over 25 years, Charles Martinet lent his voice to various characters from Super Mario Bros. such as Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi; however, that has changed. This morning, Nintendo confirmed that the actor will no longer voice these characters, but will we hear him for the last time in Super Mario Wonder?

Recently, GameSpot contacted Nintendo to inquire whether we will hear Martinet as Mario in Super Mario Wonder. The company's response was negative, indicating that the actor will not be involved in the upcoming Nintendo Switch release.

"While Charles is not involved in the game, we are excited to honor his legacy and contributions, including what he will do in the future as a Mario ambassador," a company spokesperson said.

Martinet not participating in Super Mario Wonder likely comes as a surprise to few. After all, several fans had already noticed that the plumber's voice sounded different in its early previews. Thus, there was already suspicion that there would be a change of actor for the Mushroom Kingdom characters.

Who will voice Mario in Super Mario Wonder?

Now, who on earth will voice Mario in Super Mario Wonder? Nintendo has not yet provided an answer. The company only stated that we will find that information in the game's credits.

"The characters' voices will be credited in the game's credits, so please wait until the game is released," commented the Nintendo spokesperson.
