The industry is full of very talented actors with iconic voices, but very few are as popular as those of Charles Martinet. The actor's career will soon take a major turn, as it was confirmed that he will no longer be voicing Mario and other prominent Nintendo characters.
Through a press release, the company revealed that the actor will no longer record voices for its games, so he will stop giving life to the famous plumber. Nintendo named him Mario Ambassador, as he will continue to be linked to the franchise in a new way.
Charles Martinet will no longer be the voice of Mario in future games
Nintendo reminded fans that Martinet has been the voice of Mario for many years, as his first big job was none other than Super Mario 64. The company explained that the actor will be making a transition in his career and will therefore stop recording voices for its future games.
"Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador. With this transition, he will be stepping back from recording character voices for our games, but he’ll continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you all!" the company revealed.
Nintendo noted that it was an honor to work with the voice actor and thanked him for all his work in bringing Mario and other characters in the franchise to life. On the other hand, the company confirmed that it will soon release a video where Shigeru Miyamoto and Martinet will talk more about it.
"It has been an honor working with Charles to help bring Mario to life for so many years and we want to thank and celebrate him. Please keep an eye out for a special video message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles himself, which we will post at a future date," concluded Nintendo.
