Several rumors claim that Sony is already working on a PlayStation 5 Pro and that Xbox is not completely ruling out launching an Xbox Series revision. Strauss Zelnick, head of Take-Two, believes that such hardware mid-generation upgrades would not make much sense, at least not from a business perspective.

From the executive's perspective these types of revisions don't always generate the expected impact on the market and how studios make and sell their games. Thus, he hinted that they should not be done unless something of real value is brought to the table.

Strauss Zelnick doesn't entirely approve mid-generation upgrades like the rumored PS5 Pro

Zelnick believes that mid-generation hardware updates can either be good or have no impact, all depending on what that upgrades looks like and what it offers consumers. The executive believes the revisions haven't varied much throughout history, so he believes they aren't really significant.

"Generally speaking, the mid-generation upgrades haven't really changed much. Aaren't all that meaningful," Zelnick said.

The Take-Two boss thinks hardware upgrades don't change the way games are created or sold, so it has no real impact on retailers. The executive received some criticism for these comments, especially since the community associated them with the port of Red Dead Redemption and its arrival on PlayStation 4.

Now, it is important to clarify that neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed reviews of their current consoles. While there are reports coming from reliable sources, it is best to take them as just a rumor for now.
