It seems that the relationship between Microsoft and Square Enix is improving

Several important Square Enix releases have skipped their debut on Xbox. This is something that Microsoft is not happy about, so it appears they took action to improve their relationship with the distributor. Thanks to this, one of the best Final Fantasy games will finally come to Xbox after a 10-year wait.

At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, it was confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV will finally arrive on Xbox. The game will be officially available on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S sometime in the spring of 2024. Before that, it will arrive with an open Beta as part of the launch of patch 6.5x, which is expected to arrive at some point in September.

According to the official announcement, the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XVI will feature fast loading screens thanks to the SSD on both consoles. Additionally, on Xbox Series X, players can enjoy graphics in 4K.

But what about the free version of Final Fantasy XIV? It's also coming to Xbox! The famous trial that allows you to enjoy A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions up to level 70 without time restrictions will be available on Xbox consoles. With this, the Xbox community will have cost-free access to hundreds of hours of content. With that, they can also discover why Final Fantasy XIV is so famous and why it has such a passionate community.

More Square Enix games could come to Xbox

Undoubtedly, this is exciting news, but there are more reasons to be happy. We say this because the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox represents a new era for the relationship between Square Enix and Xbox.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, tweeted that he is hopeful to continue working closely with Square Enix for future releases. On the other hand, Takashi Kiryu, General Manager of Square Enix, said they want to bring their games to Xbox "when possible" so their community can enjoy them.

"We are looking forward to solidifying the relationship we have built by bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox and collaborating closely with you and the Square Enix team on future games," said Phil Spencer to Kiryu during the presentation.
