Half-Life: Alyx brought back Valve's popular franchise after an absence. Because of this, its fans are hopeful that the company will work on more of the saga's projects and finally make what many wish for a reality: Half-Life 3.
Although nothing has been confirmed, a clue has raised gamers' expectations, as everything indicates that Valve could make an announcement about Half-Life in an upcoming event. Of course, we are referring to gamescom 2023, which will take place at the end of next month.
Hint suggests that a new Half-Life project is on the way
The reddit community discovered something that caught the attention of Valve and Half-Life fans mightily. The gamescom app already shows a list of the companies that will be attending the event and some of the brands that will be present at this year's show.
The list includes Valve and, to everyone's surprise, Half-Life as well. This suggests that a new project of the saga could be revealed at the German fair. Many gamers think it's too good to be true, so they think it's a simple mistake on the part of gamescom.
There are also fans convinced that the company will only be at the event for commercial reasons and will not have any announcements throughout the event. Finally, there are players hoping to see the rumored sequel to Half-Life: Alyx or even the dreamed Half-Life 3.
On the other hand, gamers recalled the existence of at least 2 mysterious projects that have not yet been revealed, but have been leaked little by little: Citadel, described as a hybrid between RTS and FPS based on Half-Life, and Neon Prime, a title that Valve registered last year.
Interestingly enough, this is not the first time gamescom has set off alarms for Half-Life. Due to a mistake, the event assured in 2012 that there would be news of Half-Life 3, which clearly did not happen. For this reason, it is not ruled out that this has been repeated and everything is a confusion.
We will have to wait for gamescom 2023 to find out if Valve is really preparing a surprise related to the saga. The event will take place from August 23 to 27. Of course, we will have all the coverage here.
