The studio has become the flagship of PlayStation in recent years

It seems that the sky's the limit for Insomniac Games, as in recent years, and following the bittersweet experience Naughty Dog had with The Last of Us: Part II, it has become Sony's star studio. Insomniac's journey started with the development and release of Marvel's Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, preparing the debut of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and continuing with the development of Marvel's Wolverine. But surprisingly, they are also working on another unannounced AAA title.

In case you didn't know: Insomniac is working on an unannounced AAA game

Today, a video surfaced on Twitter featuring an interview conducted by Full Sail University with director and producer Erin Eberhardt, who reveals that she is leading the development of her first AAA video game as part of Insomniac Games. The noteworthy aspect is that this statement went unnoticed at the time, as according to what is mentioned in the video, it appears to be from 2022, and there, Erin Eberhardt celebrates her return to PlayStation and her new adventure with Insomniac Games, revealing that it is an unannounced AAA project that is currently in progress.

Hype immediately started building up, as apart from confirming that Insomniac Games is working on another AAA project, which is surprising in a time when high-quality video games can take many years to develop, it revived the rumors that appeared in 2021 about a supposed third game in the studio's hands, in addition to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine. This rumored game would be a multiplayer title with melee elements featuring characters from the comic book universe, including both superheroes and villains.

While there's nothing official from Insomniac or PlayStation, it wouldn't be strange for Insomniac to also embrace the games-as-a-service or online multiplayer strategy that Sony is promoting.

Regarding Erin Eberhardt, her background includes roles as manager and producer at Disney, planning manager at PlayStation during the PS4 era, and lead manager of the esports division at Blizzard. She is currently the director of this secret project at Insomniac Games.
