The end of games as a service continues and the most recent victim is Gundam Evolution. Through a press release, Bandai Namco informed that the team-based shooter's days are numbered and it will close its servers a year after its release.
In case you don't know, the FPS based on the popular anime debuted in September 2022 and was well received. Despite this, its servers will close in a few months and, therefore, the title can no longer be enjoyed.
Gundam Evolution's days are numbered
There is bad news for the Gundam Evolution community, as the title's servers will close on November 29. So the game will disappear a little more than 1 years after its debut. Its developers stated that they did their best to offer a great experience to fans of the franchise.
Unfortunately, they believe that the title and the service ultimately cannot continue. So they made the decision to shut down the servers and stop development. It is important to note that the game will remain active as normal until it is shut down.
The above means that Season 6, scheduled for August 23, is still on. In addition, the game's final season will be released on October 25. On the other hand, Bandai Namco will stop selling Evo Coins, the title's currency, as of July 26. The company notified that it does not plan to offer refunds for in-game content or coins.
“We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together. We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally. Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.
“We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has played the game and supported us to this point. At the same time, we would like to sincerely apologize to our fans and players,” said Kazuya Maruyama, executive director of the title.
