During a recent livestream, Starbreeze confirmed that a constant internet connection will be necessary to play PAYDAY 3. Fans will be able to play solo; however, even then they will need to be connected to enjoy the game.
The company suggested that this requirement is linked to the game's cross-progression feature. Some players are upset because the previous installments had options for solo play and offline functionality. They requested something similar for the third installment.
On the other hand, they fear that the game may lose support or suddenly shut down, leaving them unable to access its content in any way. The modding community is also concerned, as they fear the worst for the future of PAYDAY 3.
"It's very sad to see them go down this road. PAYDAY 3 will shut down one day. This game is on death row," said a disappointed fan.
Finally, there are players concerned about Starbreeze, as the company recently went through challenging times and a restructuring process.
