Uncharted 2 Director Talks About Similarities with Mission: Impossible - Dead Sentence

Tom Cruise's new film includes scenes that felt familiar to Uncharted fans

It is becoming increasingly common for filmmakers and television creators to draw inspiration from video game franchises to produce series or movies. The latest example is the new Mission: Impossible film, which includes several sequences similar to iconic moments from Uncharted 2.

Uncharted is one of Sony's flagship franchises and has already been adapted into a film. Its impact is such that Mission: Impossible has taken inspiration from it, and the latest film, Mission: Impossible - Dead Sentence - Part 1, features shots that seem to have been taken from the 2009 game.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Sentence includes scenes identical to those in Uncharted 2

The film has just been released, and many people who have already seen it noticed scenes that felt familiar to them.

Without going into plot details (the situation we'll discuss has appeared in movie trailers), there is a moment in the film where agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has to fight on a moving train.

Later on, a bridge collapses, leaving the train hanging, and Ethan Hunt and Grace (Hayley Atwell) have to find a way to hold on and avoid falling into the abyss.

These sequences have shots that are very similar to those in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, as like Ethan Hunt, Nathan Drake also fights on a moving train and ends up hanging in the middle of nowhere at some point.

Was Mission: Impossible - Dead Sentence inspired by Uncharted 2?

So far, the film's director, Christopher McQuarrie, has not commented on any possible game influence on the production. However, in previous instances, [url=/noticias/329937/UNCHARTED-3-inspiro-al-director-de-Mission-Impossible]the filmmaker has acknowledged that the Uncharted franchise has inspired Mission: Impossible films, specifically the airplane sequence in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015).

However, Bruce Straley, co-director of Uncharted 2, spoke about it and shared images that clearly show the similarities between the game and the movie.

"... The sincerest form of flattery," referring to the saying that "imitation is the sincerest form of admiration."
