Lawrence Hryb, also known as Larry Hryb or Major Nelson, is one of the most beloved personalities in the Xbox community. In addition to being the Programming Director of Xbox LIVE services, he gained the affection of gamers through his weekly YouTube podcast. Unfortunately, his time at the company has come to an end.
Through a Twitter thread, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb confirmed that he is leaving Xbox. Without providing many details, he indicates that he will now be working on a new chapter in his career. Of course, he took the opportunity to thank the users who supported him throughout the past two decades.
"After 20 amazing years, I have decided to step down and embark on the next chapter of my career. As I take a moment and reflect on everything we have done together, I want to thank the millions of players around the world who included me as part of their lives," commented the 65-year-old executive.
"I also want to thank the members of the Xbox team for trusting me to have direct dialogue with new customers. The future is bright for Xbox, and as a player, I am excited to see its evolution. Thank you, and I'll see you online," concluded Major Nelson.

In a third tweet, Larry Hryb confirmed that the official Xbox podcast will take a break during the summer and will return in a new format on a yet-to-be-confirmed date.
As expected, dozens of fans and industry personalities thanked the executive for his work and wished him the best in his future projects. Among those who spoke up was the current head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, who expressed his admiration and respect in a Twitter post.
"Larry, it has been wonderful working with you on this journey. Thank you for being a friend and for everything you have done for our community and the Xbox team," affirmed Phil Spencer on his personal account.

In early 2001, Larry Hryb began working at Microsoft as the editor-in-chief of MSN Music, but it wasn't until 2003 that he joined the Xbox division. He played a significant role in the creation of the Xbox LIVE service. During his time at the company, he contributed to the development of features such as the achievement system, game messaging, cloud saving, and more. In addition to these accomplishments, he won fans' affection through his presence on social media and interviews.
