Undoubtedly, Microsoft's legal battle against the United States Federal Trade Commission revealed some very interesting information. In one of the court documents, it was revealed that Xbox believed that two of its upcoming exclusives would sell millions of copies on PlayStation.

[Starfield, the new space-themed RPG developed by Bethesda, will debut this year for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Similarly, the new Indiana Jones game from MachineGames will only be available on Xbox and PC. The exclusivity of these projects sparked a lot of discussion and even led to boycott movements.

In one of the court documents used in the legal battle against the FTC, Tim Stuart, CFO of Xbox, revealed the estimated number of copies these titles would sell on PlayStation 5 if they were to debut on that platform. Despite leaving millions on the table, the company believes that exclusivity won't be an issue.

Specifically, Tim Stuart stated that Microsoft projected that "both Starfield and Indiana Jones" would sell "over 10 million copies" on PlayStation before the company made the decision to make them exclusive to the Xbox and PC ecosystems. Now the question is, why did they give up on the potential sales?

According to the information, Microsoft gave up on the potential sales of these games on PlayStation in the hopes that the lost profits from exclusivity would be compensated by additional sales of Xbox consoles and Game Pass subscriptions.

Of course, it's difficult to know if players will be willing to purchase a console to play these titles. Although many details about the new Indiana Jones game remain a mystery, the community is very excited for the upcoming release of Starfield.
