Rumors suggest that the new Ultimate Team mode could have teams with both men and women.

EA Sports has made efforts to include women's soccer in their games, as shown by one of the EA SPORTS FC 24. This is an important and valuable endeavor, but some fans see it differently and prefer to be offended by the possibility of EA SPORTS FC 24 featuring mixed-gender soccer matches.

Recently, a leak began circulating, claiming that EA SPORTS FC 24 will have mixed-gender soccer matches. According to the leak, the first Ultimate Team mode of EA SPORTS FC will feature the top male and female soccer stars.

The leak suggests that players will have the opportunity to create a team with stars like Jude Bellingham or Erling Haaland playing side by side with Sam Kerr or Alexia Putellas. Some people find this unrealistic and are so offended that they are willing to boycott the soccer franchise they usually buy year after year.

"The problem is not that [women] are in the game. The problem is that they are being mixed with men, which cannot happen in real life. And the only way to do it is to lie about the women's statistics," said one player who plans to boycott EA SPORTS FC 24.

Mixed-gender soccer is real, albeit uncommon

Interestingly, although some claim that mixed-gender soccer matches are impossible, they have actually occurred in real sports, although not yet in high-level competitive matches. Last week in Mexico, "The Match" took place, a friendly match in which Club de Futbol Pachuca and Club Leon faced each other with mixed-gender squads made up of their first-division players. In 2020, Yuki Nagasato, a World Cup champion with Japan in 2011, became the first woman to sign and play for a men's team, the Hayabusa Eleven.

This makes it clear that mixed-gender soccer is not impossible. In any case, it is a more realistic possibility than seeing Lionel Messi playing with Pelé, Johan Cruyff, or Diego Armando Maradona, something that Ultimate Team has allowed players to do through FUT ICONS.

It should be noted that EA Sports has not confirmed whether it will be possible to have mixed-gender soccer matches in EA SPORTS FC 24. We will keep an eye out for updates and inform you when we know more about it.
