In the coming months, Splatoon 3 will celebrate its first year, and at the beginning of 2023, Nintendo revealed that it would bring more content to the game with an Expansion Pass that includes several novelties. Among them is a new story DLC that will not only expand the rich universe of this series but also offer gameplay never before seen in previous entries.
Perhaps the most attractive part of the Expansion Pass for fans of Splatoon is the second one, as it will be related to the franchise's history and will present an alternate scenario that never happened in the current universe.
What will the Splatoon 3 DLC story be about?
We say this because the project leads were present in Famitsu and revealed that the DLC story will be a kind of uchronia, as it will present a universe as it would be now after Order prevailed.
In case you don't know, Chaos triumphed over Order in the last Splatfest of Splatoon 2, and from there, the game's universe has developed. However, with the upcoming story DLC for Splatoon 3, titled Side Order, the development team will explore the hypothetical scenario in which the Order side prevailed (via Nintendo Everything).
It was also confirmed that we will see Off the Hook again, the duo made up of Pearl and Marina. The best news for fans of both is that they will be part of the new story.
But most importantly for those who love Splatoon for its gameplay is that Side Order will also feature "completely new and different gameplay." What the project leads are referring to is unknown, so we will have to wait to see the DLC in action once it debuts later on an undefined date.
