PAYDAY 3 will feature hostage situations, giving you more ways to execute your heists

After much speculation and rumors, during Summer Game Fest 2023 the release date of PAYDAY 3, the third installment of the Starbreeze franchise known for its bank heists and extreme tension situations, was confirmed. The hype for this title is building up, and players' interest has been focused on the possibilities they will have to carry out the robbery, especially a new one.

PAYDAY 3 will feature hostage situations

During the recent installment of their development diary (via VGC), Andreas Häll-Penninger, producer of PAYDAY 3, revealed the options that players will have to pull off a heist. The legacy of the previous 2 installments is the possibility to choose stealth or go full-on hostility against the police and anyone trying to prevent the robbery. However, this time a third way will be added, which could be controversial in nature but interesting within the game: hostage situations.

Regarding this, the producer stated: "I think the biggest change is just how the heist experience has evolved in general. In PAYDAY 2 you have stealth and then you have action, which is a pretty binary system, and that's something we really wanted to develop and evolve. So in PAYDAY 3 you have stealth and then you have something we call the hunt. That's essentially when guards are searching for you and suspicious, but then you have something really interesting which is called negotiation, so the first responders to arrive on scene will see that you have hostages, and you can start trading them off to gain time before the police arrive, or you can save the hostages for later because you can trade them off for resources."

Apparently, hostage situations in PAYDAY 3 will have strategic value to gain time or resources, but it is certainly interesting that the options go beyond stealth or absolute violence.

PAYDAY 3 will debut on September 21st on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
