The game will have an offline mode, but even so the connection will be important

Turn 10 Studios has just confirmed a piece of news that will probably worry more than one player: Forza Motorsport will require a permanent Internet connection in most of its modes. Although the game will have an offline mode, the connection will still be very important, as progression will depend on it.

Chris Esaki, the game's creative director, explained that the progression system in Career mode and the other modes will require an Internet connection, as everything will be saved on the franchise's servers.

Forza Motorsport will require Internet for its progression system

Esaki revealed that the game will have a component called Free Play, where fans will be able to play without an Internet connection. This mode will always be available regardless of connection; however, Internet will be required to save any progress in the game.

The creative stated that such a requirement will ensure that the experience will be "fair and safe anywhere in the game". So everything will be constantly checked on the franchise's servers.

"Any progression in the game will be stored on our servers to support the integrity of the overall game experience. There are options for playing offline. So things like Free Play [are] always available, but any progression requires an online connectionn," revealed Esaki.

Some gamers are concerned about this move, as was the case with Gran Turismo 7 recently. Fans believe that the bigger issue is not whether or not to have a connection, but what will happen once support for the game comes to an end and its servers close.

For this reason, part of the community hopes that Turn 10 Studios will later offer an alternative so that Career mode and other components of the title can be enjoyed offline.
