PlayStation: Our alliance with Square Enix has never been stronger

Executives from both companies reaffirmed their commitment at the Final Fantasy XVI pre-launch event.

There's no doubt that one of the most important video game markets is Japan. PlayStation is a company that not only originated in this region but is also favored by players because it has the support of many Japanese developers, such as Square Enix, which has just reaffirmed its commitment to Sony, which is stronger than ever.

This was revealed by the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, who appeared virtually and briefly at the Final Fantasy XVI pre-launch ceremony.

As part of the opening speech, newly appointed Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu took the opportunity to discuss his relationship with PlayStation, the platform on which the action RPG title will debut exclusively, and handed over the floor to Ryan, whom he referred to as one of his "most valued partners."

PlayStation thanked Square Enix for their support

For his part, the Sony executive praised the collaboration that dates back to the 1990s and stated that it "has never been stronger," which he thanked Square Enix for.

"The relationship between SIE [Sony Interactive Entertainment] and Square Enix goes all the way back to the beginning of the existence of PlayStation, and that alliance has never been stronger," said the PlayStation leader. "We value everything we do together and appreciate your commitment to our brand and our business. Thank you again."

Certainly, the relationship between PlayStation and Square Enix is one of Sony's longest and most important partnerships, and it's thanks to this partnership that PlayStation has had access to the company's games at launch and even exclusively for their platforms. In fact, due to their alliance, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Rebirth, Forspoken, and likely Final Fantasy XVI have not been released on Xbox, just as BABYLON'S FALL wasn't.

This is noteworthy after insiders mentioned that the relationship between Square Enix and Xbox is poor, and later it was mentioned that Xbox would try to improve its contact with this Japanese company, just like]it's doing with many others in the region.
