Dozens of Disney+ series will soon disappear, including original content

A sad reality of video streaming services is that no series or movie is safe and can disappear at any time, even if you keep paying your monthly fee. The clearest proof of this is that Disney confirmed that dozens of series and movies are about to disappear from the service.

According to Deadline[/i], Disney made the decision to remove several films and series from the catalogs of services like Disney+ and Hulu. The affected content includes productions such as Willow, Big Shot, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, among others.

But why is Disney removing all this content? It is part of a strategic change by the company that seeks to modify its focus on content selection.

"We are reviewing the content in our direct-to-consumer services to align with the strategic changes to our content selection approach," said Christine McCarthy, Disney's CFO. "As a result, we will remove certain content from our streaming platforms, and we currently expect to incur an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion."
