Elle Fanning: I had never worked on something that caused as much fervor as Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima may have his fans and detractors, but one thing that cannot be denied is his impact on the video game industry. His next project is Death Stranding 2, which like the original installment will feature high-level actors, and one of them has just revealed how she found out about the importance of working with Kojima.

While the sequel still has many secrets to reveal, it is known that one of the key pieces will be the character played by the beautiful and talented American actress Elle Fanning (Maleficent, The Great). Although at just 25 years old she has participated in big Hollywood productions, she acknowledged that none of them have generated as much buzz as Death Stranding 2.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz, Fanning mentioned that the same people who worked on Avatar are participating in the project through a motion capture studio located in Los Angeles, and confessed that "she had never done it before," and certainly, this is the first time she has done facial capture for a video game project.

For this reason, when Fanning accepted the project, she didn't really know what it involved. In fact, she didn't imagine that she would have to act certain scenes and was surprised that there were emotional scenes, and was even surprised when Hideo Kojima, the project's main responsible, asked her to cry in the capture suit, something that was unusual for her.

This makes sense if we take into account that Fanning is completely unfamiliar with video games, as she does not usually play them and has no knowledge of what video game development involves, such as the creation of this type of scenes.

Fanning quickly realized that the project she got involved in is not just any project, but one of the best creative minds in the industry, Hideo Kojima. In fact, even her acquaintances made it known.

"My gamer friends went crazy. For them, this is the best thing I've ever done," Fanning said. "Instagram and comments, I had never experienced that."

Another interesting detail is that Fanning mentioned that she doesn't play video games, but she would be willing to try playing Death Stranding.

"I'm not a gamer and [Hideo Kojima] knows that, but I will definitely play it. He sent me a PS3," the actress said, referring to a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, perhaps to try out the original installment or Death Stranding 2 once it's available.
