Eiji Aonuma is already thinking about what comes next after the release of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

One of the biggest surprises leading up to the release of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the appearance of Ganon, a well-known character in the franchise and practically the embodiment of evil that fans are most familiar with. His arrival coincides with a time when fans want the franchise to expand beyond Link and Zelda, and perhaps the future may head in that direction.

GANONDORF COULD BE A CHARACTER WITH GREATER DEVELOPMENT IN FUTURE ZELDA GAMES

During an interview with The New York Times (via Wccftech), Eiji Aonuma, the director of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, talked a bit about the future of the franchise because as is often the case with legendary IPs, the release of a game is just the beginning of a new project. In that sense, the Japanese genius acknowledged the interest in developing other characters, not just Link and Zelda, and it's likely that the first one to enjoy this idea is Ganon himself: "It is possible that going forward we may see more character development and changes in personality for Ganondorf as the series continues. He's an ingredient we use to complement the game."

Speaking of the debut of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it was recently revealed that Eiji Aonuma beat the game 20 times without getting bored, so the new Switch game is meant to last a long time.

On the other hand, Nintendo has revealed what the day-one update will include at launch because they don't want any errors or issues.
