For many years, there has been talk of the possibility of a film adaptation or anime based on Link's adventures. Despite multiple rumors indicating that such a production was in the works, it is unknown if it will ever exist.
With the multi-billion-dollar success of the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is easy to assume that Nintendo is more interested than ever in bringing its IP to multimedia platforms. In fact, Shigeru Miyamoto has already suggested that the company will make more films with Illumination.

While we will have to wait to find out what the company's next step will be on that front, an important producer has already expressed his desire to see a feature film of The Legend of Zelda.
In a recent interview with Polygon, producer Eiji Aonuma spoke about various topics related to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. In the final moments of the conversation, he gave his opinion on the possibility of a movie for the franchise.
"I have to say, I am interested. For sure. But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately", said the Japanese creative. Immediately, Tears of the Kingdom director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, intervened and said that "maybe the voice of the fans is what’s important here".
While the wait to find out if a movie for the IP is in the works can be torturous, fans can already enjoy the new video game.
