it's canon now! Resident Evil Village’s scriptwriter says Lady Dimitrescu is lesbian

The villain of Capcom's title won the hearts of fans

Resident Evil Village will go down in history as one of the most successful games of the franchise. Certainly, much of its popularity is due to Lady Dimitrescu, the elegant-looking giant vampire who captured the hearts of millions of fans. Now, two years after its release, the game's scriptwriter confirmed a fan theory.

In the horror and action video game story, the villain's orientation is never addressed. However, the community theorized for a long time that she belonged to the LGBTQIA+ community. The arguments? Her castle is full of statues of women, and she repeatedly claims to hate men.

FOR THE RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE SCRIPTWRITER, LADY DIMITRESCU IS LESBIAN

Pink News published an article highlighting nine lesbian women who had a significant impact on the video game industry as part of the celebration of Lesbian Visibility Week, which took place a few days ago. On the list, we find Lady Dimitrescu, who became an icon in the LGBTQIA+ community despite her orientation being a mystery.

Resident Evil Village scriptwriter, Antony Johnston, responded to the article and suggested that the giant vampire is indeed a lesbian. "I can’t speak for everyone else at Capcom, obviously, but as far as I’m concerned the only thing about men that makes Lady D h**** is their blood," he said.

Undoubtedly, this news will come as a surprise to a large section of the community. After all, much of Resident Evil Village's marketing revolved around Lady Dimitrescu: from giant posters in stores and buses to energy drinks inspired by the villain.

Fortunately, the fans reacted positively to Antony Johnston's statements. In the comments section of the Instagram post, players expressed their excitement.

But tell us, do you think Capcom agrees with Antony Johnston's statements? Do you think we will learn more about this character in future franchise installments? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Resident Evil Village is now available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
