Is Xbox Series S failing due to VRAM issues? The fault would be with a game and not the console

Microsoft's system has once again been the subject of discussion on forums, but the responsibility doesn't lie with Xbox.

It's no secret that Xbox Series S has limitations that set it apart from its bigger brother, Xbox Series X. Microsoft was transparent about this from the beginning. While the hardware is capable, the reality is that its gaming experience depends on the work done by developers, and at times there are details or problems that anger the community, which doesn't hesitate to attack the brand and its console when in reality the problem lies with the development studio.

USERS LASHED OUT AT XBOX SERIES S FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS NOT THE CONSOLE'S FAULT

In recent days, an image has circulated on social media and forums supposedly showing a problem with Xbox Series S, as the console suspends the video game to notify the user that the video memory has run out, making it impossible to continue running the game in question. An immediate analysis shows that this message would correspond to a PC experience, not Xbox Series S, as it instructs the user to confirm that their graphics card meets the minimum requirements to run the game or, if not, to make adjustments in the graphics section.

THE BORDERLANDS 3 STUDIO DID NOT OPTIMIZE ADEQUATELY FOR XBOX SERIES S

Although the image in question went viral and some didn't hesitate to crucify Xbox Series S, the reality is that the problem is caused by Borderlands 3, the game that was being played on the console at the time of the error.

The reddit community participated in partially absolving Microsoft's console of responsibility by blaming the disaster of optimization that Borderlands 3 has on Gearbox, stating that these types of failures and crashes are common on Xbox, and it's the fault of developers who didn't do their job properly.

Likewise, users recalled that Microsoft released more VRAM memory for developers in order to improve the optimization process. Xbox Series S has 10 GB for this purpose, and 2 GB were reserved for the operating system before the adjustment was made that released more memory. However, there are studios that are definitely bypassing the optimization required by the console to take advantage of its potential.
