Redfall did not meet expectations and had a poor reception among players and critics. Despite all its shortcomings and errors, Arkane's title managed to shine in some way on Xbox. This is largely thanks to the fact that the vampire shooter debuted on day one on Xbox Game Pass. To put its achievement into perspective, Redfall competes in the section of most played titles with true heavyweights, such as Call of Duty and Fortnite.
REDFALL SUCCEEDS ON XBOX DESPITE CRITICISM
According to True Achievements (via Games Radar), Redfall is one of the best debuts for Xbox in 2023. To be exact, it is in second place and only surpassed by Atomic Heart, another title that benefited from debuting on Xbox Game Pass.
We also know that the vampire shooter is one of the Xbox titles with the most hours of gameplay registered in the week that ended on May 7th. This positioned it on the list of most played titles in the Xbox ecosystem, thanks to being available on the subscription service.
Redfall competes head-to-head on the list with giants like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Minecraft, GTA V, and FIFA 23. So it seems that it didn't do too badly despite its flaws and strong criticism.
Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, was disappointed with the game and everything that happened, so he promised improvements. Likewise, Arkane stated that they will work to improve the current state of the shooter.
Redfall is now available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC.
