Review bombing consists of filling a game with negative reviews on sites like Metacritic, etc. Many times there is a reason behind these actions, but other times the motivations of the players are simply a mystery. That's precisely the case today.
The thing is that the most recent releases for Nintendo Switch are targets of review bombing by users on Metacritic. The interesting thing is that no one knows exactly why this is happening, as the titles have little relation and community comments don't shed light on a reason behind the wave of unfavorable reviews.
Generally, players give extremely negative ratings to express their disgust with issues like poor performance, abusive microtransactions and other controversial practices. Of course, there are also those who post low scores to attack LGBTQIA+ content, diversity and other ideological topics.

However, the Nintendo titles that received low scores are free of controversy. The most interesting cases are Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, Bayonetta Origins: Cherry and the Lost Demon and Fire Emblem Engage, which have positive ratings from critics but very low scores from users.
Specifically, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has a score of 82 from professional critics, but has a 5.2 score from users. Bayonetta Origins: Cherry and the Lost Demon has a rating of 81, but the player score is 5.7. Finally, Fire Emblem Engage has an average of 80 from critics, but 6.6 from consumers.
To a lesser extent, video games like Metroid Prime Remastered and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe were also victims of review bombing. The reason? Nobody knows. Everything seems to indicate that players simply limit themselves to sharing extremely low scores when the title did not meet their expectations.
Recently, many users expressed their dissatisfaction with the LGBTQIA+ content in the latest expansion of Horizon Forbidden West by sharing negative ratings, causing controversy. Metacritic condemned this situation and promised to take action.
